TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Dasto Ledyanto, Director of Potentials, Compliance, and Acceptance of the Directorate General for Taxes, declined to comment on the attainment of tax target following the raise of remuneration of tax officials.
“On Thursday last week, when President Joko Widodo submitted his tax declaration form (SPT), the Director General of Taxes has already talked about it,” Dasto said on Saturday, March 21, 2015.
For the record, the government has issued a government regulation Number 37 of 2015 on the Official Performance Allowance at the Directorate General of Taxes that stated that echelon I official receive Rp84 million to Rp117 million per month, echelon II officials receive Rp56 million to Rp82 million per month, and echelon III officials receive Rp37 million to Rp46 million per month.
In the meantime, Executive Director of Center for Indonesia Taxation Analysis Yustinus Prastowo said that the increase in the remuneration has to trigger tax officials to work even harder.
“Public demand will also be bigger so this remuneration will have to be accompanied by a better performance. There’s no reason not to work hard,” Yustinus said, adding that in 2015, the target of tax revenues increased into Rp1,296 trillion.
In the meantime, Finance Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro ensured that that the tax revenue would not be revised because according the instruction President Joko Widodo during the SPT submission, it was clear that the government would continue to work hard to receive revenues from taxes.
“Just to remind what people said several months ago, to work hard. I believe this as a new spirit of my colleagues in DGT. But this is time to make it happen for public good.”
