After conducting the tax amnesty program twice, which has not fully resulted in repatriation and compliance as expected, the government has confirmed that it will not hold a new tax amnesty. Instead of pursuing participants from the previous programs, the government is encouraged to resolve the remaining issues through data follow-up and improvements in tax collection.
Fajry Akbar, Head of Research at the Center for Indonesia Taxation Analysis (CITA), stated that tax authorities do not need to pursue participants from the previous tax amnesty period, especially taxpayers who have not yet met the repatriation requirements. He believes it would be more appropriate to provide them with warnings and solutions to fulfill their obligations.
